The nursery has its own fully supervised soft outdoor undercover play area. Clear glass enables our babies to view the gardens in the Centre as well as the toddlers and junior children. Our nursery has its own bottle/food preparation area, nappy change facilities and toilets. Our phone/intercom connects with reception, kitchen and staff in other rooms.
Qualified early childhood teacher
We want the very best start in life for our children. That’s why every child who is 4 or turns 4 by the 30th June can be enrolled in our Queensland Government Approved Kindergarten Program. The program is delivered by a qualified early childhood teacher for a minimum of 15 hours per week or 600 hours per year. This enables all children to have access to a high quality educational program as set down under the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Requirements. Children learn valuable skills before they commence school to ensure a smooth transition from kindergarten to prep. Our program is also extended to include extra-curricular activities and projects such as health and fitness, and learning a language.
Play-based curriculum and Virtues program for life skills and resiliency
For children who are 4 or turning 4 by 30 June, we operate a Queensland Government Approved Kindergarten program with a qualified early childhood teacher. This program is based on the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Requirements and is structured towards getting children socially, emotionally and academically ready for prep. Smart Start Early Learning Centre works closely with local primary schools to ensure your child’s transition to school is as smooth as possible. For the younger children, our learning environments across the service are tailored to the age and ability of each individual child. Our curriculum is based on the Early Years Learning Framework, enabling each child to explore, inquire, investigate, experiment and discover their world through play, songs, rhymes, stories, positive values, interactions and quiet time. Our educators are encouraged to recognise and record spontaneous teaching moments, as well as undertake intentional teaching. We adopt the principles of the Virtues program in our service, which is based on 52 virtues from Assertiveness to Unity. Our goal is to create a positive, empowering environment for our children in which they can learn, grow and understand concepts such as patience, kindness, honesty, enthusiasm, joyfulness, respect and self-discipline. Your child’s journey with us is documented in their own portfolio which provides a visual track, as well as photographic evidence on our bulletin board.
